On 28 September 2023, a delegation from Mangystau region visited the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan. The visit was aimed at strengthening economic ties between the neighbouring regions.
The visit was led by the Deputy Akim of Mangystau Oblast, Kanat Kuljanov. The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, Rasul Zarikeev, who introduced the guests to the tourist and cultural sites of Karakalpakstan. After visiting the Savitsky Museum and signing a Memorandum of Understanding on future cooperation, tourism representatives from both regions met to discuss joint business opportunities. A roadmap of joint activities for future tourism cooperation was agreed. The highlight was participating in the “99 Fish Dishes of the Aral Sea” festival held in Taxtakupir district, which gave visitors a taste of Karakalpakstan. All agreed that the potential for cooperation between the regions, which have strong cultural and religious ties, should be further extended.
The delegation also met with the Chairman of the Karakalpak Council of Ministers Mr Ermanov Farkhod Urazbaevich, the Chairman of the Karakalpak Parliament Mr Orinbaev Amanbay Tleubaevich, and the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Karakalpakstan Mr Khudaybergenov Tursinkhan Aydarovich. They discussed the potential for cooperation in other economic sectors.
