A delegation of agricultural experts of the International Innovation Centre for the Aral Sea Region (IICAS) headed by Dr. Parahat Toreshev visited the Ellikkala district in Karakalpakstan on February 23rd to exchange experiences on licorice cultivation. The trip was organised on the basis of a licorice cultivation pilot project in cooperation between GIZ and IICAS. The experts visited Bobur Tulkin Shahnoza Ltd, which is engaged in licorice root production. The experts familiarised themselves with the technology of seed preparation, cleaning and sowing conditions. Additionally they assessed methods of cultivation of licorice, which was planted by seeds and from seedlings.
