IDENTIFYING CLIMATE RISKS

Date

GIZ ECO ARAL is currently assessing climate risks for selected value chains.

A team of agricultural and environmental experts from the Research Institute of Environment and Nature Conservation Technologies under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the international expert Stefan Kienberger are currently conducting Climate Risk Assessments (CRA) in different agricultural value chains.

The CRAs will strengthen the development of sustainable value chains of licorice, sesame, rosehip and artemia in selected districts in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm. This helps to identify and rate climate risks that can affect the productivity and consider opportunities to enhance results and build climate resilience.

The CRAs are conducted according to international standard ISO 14091:2021 and the Climate Risk Sourcebook developed by GIZ. The report provides a basis for climate change adaptation planning and effective risk management.
