Ecologically Oriented Development in the Aral Sea Region
The project aims at improving the economic development of the region across borders while considering ecological sustainability. The capacity of political partners, regional administrations as well as micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are strengthened through cross-sectoral improved advisory services. This will enable them to make more ecological and resource efficient investment decisions. In addition, earth observation-based spatial planning instruments or procedures for territorial planning processes are being developed and used.
Through direct and indirect impacts, the project’s work focuses on Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan’s population of about 2 million people living around the Aral Sea.
