VISIT OF UZBEKISTANI DELEGATION TO KAZAKHSTAN WITHIN COOPERATION ON ARAL SEA AFFORESTATION

The visit of Uzbekistani delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Mr. Nizamiiddin Bakirov, the Chairman of the State Committee on Forestry of Uzbekistan, was organized by the Committee on Forestry and Wildlife of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan in collaboration with ECO-ARAL project during September 9 – 13, 2021.
The purpose of the visit was to expand bilateral cooperation on forestry and landscaping of the dried bottom of the Aral Sea, as well as to sign a roadmap of joint activities. The delegation consisted of representatives from the State Forestry Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Forestry Committee of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Forestry Research Institute.
The delegation held meetings with the management of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and local executive bodies. In addition, the delegates familiarized themselves with the work of the Botanical Garden of Nur-Sultan, RSE Zhassyl Aimak, the Republican Forest Breeding and Seed Center and Burabay State National Nature Park.
The forest plantations on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea and Kokaral dam were visited and inspected by air.
Delegation participated in the opening ceremony of a garden square dedicated to phytomelioration of the dried Aral Sea bottom in Burabay village and the new office of the Sozak Forest and Wildlife Protection Agency in Turkistan province.
As a result of the visit, a roadmap of joint actions between the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife, MEGNR RK and the State Forestry Committee of RUz was signed, under which forestry measures will be implemented for the development of the Aral Sea region.
